Monte Bean Life Science Museum BYU

The Monte Bean Life Science Museum is located in Provo, Utah at Brigham Young University (BYU). We went to this museum in 2008. There are lots of resources at this museum.

Here are some educational resources you can find online for this museum. On the Activities page, I listed only the activities that you can do without visiting the museum.

Audio Tour

Activities: Scavenger Hunts, Animal Paper Airplanes & Coloring Pages, and Intro to Africa Coloring Book, etc.

Alphabet Animals
Go on a virtual animal hunt for this museum or use the web to find different animals that begin with that letter of the alphabet. When searching for that animal on the Monte Bean Life Science Museum website, listen to the Audio Tour for the different animals or watch the Exhibit Videos. Write down the animal on the paper. Enjoying having fun while learning about the animals.

Discovery Reading Videos: Listen to various children's books on this page.

Exhibit Videos: This includes Education Videos, Conservation Kids Videos, Tanner Lecture Videos, etc. located at the bottom of the page.

Ukulele Music Craft

There are different ways you can make a ukulele craft. My daughter made one in December 2018 at a homeschooling enrichment program. It was in her "Music From Trash" class. This class was inspired by the Landfill Harmonic. There is a video about this orchestra at Paraguay’s Recycled Orchestra You can listen to the video Landfill Harmonic Amazing and Inspirational to learn more about this orchestra.
My daughter used a box, toilet paper rolls, rubberbands, juice bottle lids, tongue depressors (large craft sticks), and lots of clear tape. You could use a paper towel roll instead of toilet paper rolls.
Below you will find what she created in her class. As you can tell, the writing is not very clear in the below photo, so you might not be able to read it very well.

Paper Plate Ukulele

I found a Playable Cardboard Ukelele that interesting read about how it is made. It's a lot of work but at least it is fun to read. If you want to make one, you can but it is not a craft for children. You can hear the Cardboard Uke Video - House of the Rising Sun played.
